Gay Ottawa Volleyball

The Gay Ottawa Volleyball (GOV) league is a volunteer, non-profit volleyball league catered mainly to the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer, and LGBTQ-friendly within Canada's National Capital Region (NCR). The league provides an inclusive and fun environment, but also serves as a healthy social venue for the LGBTQ community.

The GOV league consists of 2 different nights catered for beginner/intermediate (Monday nights, see 'Recreational' in the main menu) and competitive players (Wednesday nights, see 'Competitive in the main menu).

Music @ Wednesday Competitive League

Some teams reached out to us requesting clarification on the rules when it comes to playing music in the gym during match play. We’ve decided on the following policy, which we kindly ask team captains and all players to help enforce.
  1. Music during warm-up and between sets/matches is permitted at a reasonable level.
  2. Music during match play is not permitted. The only exception is when both team captains and head referee agree to play music. In that event, music must be played at a reasonable volume in that it does not interfere with players’ ability to play – including players on another court in the same gym – nor interfere with the referee’s ability to officiate the match.
We know teams’ preferences can differ. At the end of the day courteous behaviour and sportsmanship can go a long way in resolving disputes around music, noise or how we share space. We’re all here to have fun, be kind to another!
